Yeah, the trauma of 9/11 made some on the left go a little nuts. It also made a lot of folks on the right go nuts in different ways, and eight years later we’re still stuck in two wars as a result. But the whole Obama “birther” thing is a different kettle of fish insofar as the only “trauma” these people seem to have suffered is living to see the day a black man got elected President.

Your cries of “liberal judicial activism” are, as usual, meaningless.
If liberals say no puppies should be killed, and conservatives say all puppies should be killed, it is NOT a sensible centrist position to kill 50% of puppies.
As Mankind becomes more liberal, they will be more apt to allow that all those who conduct themselves as worthy members of the community are equally entitled to the protections of civil government. I hope ever to see America among the foremost nations of justice and liberality.

It’s long been the case that what really gets the Republican base excited is anything that pisses off liberals. There are genuine policy differences, of course, but to get an audience of Republicans on their feet and cheering you need to mention something, no matter how pointless, which pisses of liberals. It’s the glue that keeps them together.

It must be really scary to be a conservative. To be one, you must live in constant fear of terrorists nuking the United States, of gay people on the verge of convincing you that you really enjoy sodomy, of Spanish becoming the official language of the United States next week, of every African-American voting seven or eight times in the next election, of radical Islam suddenly becoming the latest hip thing among kids across the country, of perpetual lesbian orgies in girls bathrooms in high schools across America, of liberals forcing everyone to become a vegan, of Christians being rounded up into concentration camps, and of Democrats outlawing private property if they were to ever take power again.
