“If President Obama walked on water, [John Bolton] would say it was because he couldn’t swim.” – Secretary of State Hillary Clinton

…that’s how much McCain paid his make-up artists last month.

Whither the 24/7 news stories a la John Edwards’ haircuts or Hillary’s cleavage?

Liberal media my muscular buttocks.

Gender and incompetence

politics Comments Off

GOP hacks are accusing liberals of sexism and chauvinism because of the Palin situation.

Question for the hacks: was Sam Alito a woman? Michael Mukasey? Alberto Gonzales? Should I go on? John Bolton? Rummy? Wolfowitz? Chertoff? Cheney? Addington? Rove?

See, we just don’t like incompetent and/or dangerous and/or hypocritical Republicans. Regardless of gender. Sorry!

Now run along and play with your Hillary nutcrackers — you know… because you’re all about equality and dignity for women.

The case for Obama-Sebelius 2008

Random Internet Wisdom, politics, todd 1 Comment

I cannot conceive of a situation where the gender that composes 52% of the electorate will walk into the voting booth, see the name “Kathleen Sebelius” in big letters under the word “Vice President”, and think – “You know – that should be Hillary, so I will cast my vote with the anti-woman warmonger!”

The numbers don’t lie. Here’s a break down from my good friend Todd:

She hired Mark Penn.

Drink up!

Oh. My. God.

Hillary is now actually implying that she is partially justified staying in the race because someone might kill Obama.

I…I…I just don’t know what to say.

The mind boggles!

Good riddance, Part II

Part I

McCain has rejected the endorsement of Rev. Rod Parsley, his other wingnutty pastor.

Another one bites the dust, I guess.

You watch…

In the coming days the Right will be increasingly shrill in their calls for Obama to reject Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s endorsement and repudiate his comments. The thing is…to my knowledge, Wright never endorsed Obama; it was all just a bunch of guilt-by-assocation nonsense from Republicans (and Clinton supporters.) Furthermore, Obama has already repudiated his comments. Twice.

Obama rules. Clinton drools.

The Lieberman Line

politics Comments Off

Quite frankly I have never seen such a gross example of intellectual dishonesty, disregard for reality on the ground, and shamelessness since, well, actually the last time Bill Kristol was on TV, [...] but when it comes to Hillary Clinton, fuck that noise. My contempt for her has reached the Lieberman line.

Clinton Calvinball

For those few readers who may not know: Calvinball was a game played by the title characters of the brilliant and wonderful comic strip Calvin and Hobbes. It was a game in which Calvin and his (imaginary?) tiger/best friend made up the the rules as they went along.

For the record, here are the real rules, as generally accepted by progressives everywhere:

  • No fear mongering.
  • No war mongering.
  • No Karl Rove tactics.
  • No helping the Republican candidate.
  • No race-baiting.
  • No threatening to obliterate an entire nation.
  • No renegging on previous statements (e.g., Florida & Michigan pledges).
  • No clandestinely painting your opponent as a terrorist.
  • No intellectual dishonesty.

The sad fact is Hillary Clinton, her surrogates and advocates have broken each of those rules on one or more occasions.

Also, I just love the term “the Lieberman Line,” referring to former Democratic congressman Joe Lieberman whose dishonesty and shamelessness in support of Republicans over the last several years has become indefensible and impossible to stomach.
