I wonder if Laura Bush’s unpunished vehicular manslaughter will be all over Fox News when she dies.

It’s no secret that Fox News is completely devoid of any semblance of impartiality (or even actual journalism.) They’re not even trying anymore, really. What’s worse, is that they seem to be deliberately misinforming their viewership in order to advance the Republican agenda. For Pete’s sake, study done in 2006 determined that a majority of Fox News viewers believed Saddam Hussein had something to do with 9/11!

A new NBC/Wall Street Journal poll contained some pretty basic questions about the ongoing health care debate. Interestingly however, it also included a few questions about statements that are known to be false, just to see how many people out there actually believe these falsehoods.

These are statements that are known to be untrue, yet Fox News viewers believe them in overwhelming numbers. It’s bad enough that approximately 40% of MSNBC/CNN viewers believe these myths, but clearly Fox is producing an audience of vastly misinformed, cultural illiterates.

Questions dealt with whether the Obama administration’s health care reforms will:

• give coverage to illegal immigrants (it won’t, in fact there is language in the bill that specifically denies coverage to undocumented immigrants),
• will lead to a government take-over (I wish, but it’s simply not the case),
• has provisions to use taxpayer money to pay for abortions (it doesn’t; I have no idea where this horseshit came from, there’s NOTHING in the bill about paying for abortions).

Overwhelmingly, Fox News viewers believed these items that are verifiably untrue. A disappointing number of CNN & MSNBC viewers believed them as well, which shows that Fox News doesn’t have the market cornered on conservative misinformation in the media.

The best term limit for Sotomayor is that she is a fat woman and will hopefully die of heart attack or stroke soon. Maybe she’ll choke to death on a jalapeño popper or a cheese enchilada.

Is there a less legitimate news outlet than the New York Post?

In an article cleverly titled “Tail to the Chief” (that headline writer’s parents must be so proud), the New York Post echoes Matt Drudge in claiming that Obama was caught looking at a 17-year-old’s butt at the G8 summit in Italy.

Alas, the truth rears its ugly head as it turns out the picture is a freeze-frame of a video that actually shows Obama turning to help a woman down the steps. Even Fox News, infamous for its deceitful cropping and/or misrepresentation of any quote, picture or video of President Obama, debunked this nonsense when reliable wingnut Greta van Susteren described it as a “lying picture that’s going around the Web.”

Even after said debunking by van Susteren, other shows and personalities on Fox continue to harp on this non-story.

When we in Left Blogsylvania laughed our asses off at Bush’s stupid facial expression when he couldn’t open a Chinese door or when he massaged the shoulders of the leader of another country, it was because he actually did those things.

Mark Sanford is a REPUBLICAN.

Why did Fox News label him with a “(D)” after his name? Perhaps because he disappeared for several days and announced that he had an affair?

Apparently Fox corrected the “mistake” in subsequent reports, but they have a history of this kind of foolishness and it only ever seems to happen when a Republican screws up. This makes it impossible for me to think it’s a simple error.
